This savoury continental dish is made of ground/ minced meat filling topped with a layer of mashed potatoes. The filling is usually simmered with onions, carrots, beans, celery and peas.

Components of Concoction :
Meat 500 g
Potatoes 4 pieces boiled
Garlic 4 numbers
Onions 2
Carrot 1 peeled & chopped
Beans 3-4 chopped
Celery 2 sticks trimmed & finely chopped
Green peas
Tomatoes 2 or Tomato purée
Cheese
Black pepper : freshly ground
Salt to taste ( preferably less )
Eggs 2
Butter 2 spoons
Cornflour 2 spoons
Let’s make it :
Stir fry some crushed garlic, sauté 1 onion , after 2/3 minutes add ground/ minced meat (mutton kheema), sauté well , add some fresh tomato purée or finely chopped tomatoes , cook for 20 mins. When it is little soft, add chopped beans, carrots, celery & green peas ( these are optional , can add any one also ), let it cook in low flame.
Meanwhile mash 4 boiled potatoes, add 2 spoon butter, 1 spoon black pepper, salt, add some grated cheese (to create a layer of melted cheese on top) & 2 egg yolks (not the white one... can add the egg whites in the Mutton curry). Mash it well.
Add 2 spoons cornlour water to the Mutton curry.
Now take the baking pan, spread the Mutton curry at the bottom and make it even in all sides. Then top the whole place with the layer of mashed potato batter uniformly. Make any design with a fork or can leave it plain.

Bake it for 35 to 40 minutes. Make squares with your knife and your Classic & Golden Shepherd’s Pie is ready for the plate with your favourite drinks!
